The NBC Premier League of mainland Tanzania is continuing its rise in prominence, securing its place among the top 10 football leagues in Africa.
According to the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS), the league currently ranks sixth on the continent, reflecting its growing competitiveness and quality.
Karim Boimanda, Communications Officer for the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB), said that while the league dropped two positions in Africa compared to 2024, it has made significant progress on the global stage.
“Our league has climbed from 57th to 54th in the world, showcasing the increase in competitiveness, quality of matches, and its appeal to fans,” Boimanda stated.
He noted that league points have also risen sharply, from 266.75 in 2024 to 308.5 in 2025, signaling its rapid growth and increasing influence in African football.
Boimanda attributed this success to improved league management, intense competition among clubs, high-quality players, and strong fan engagement both in stadiums and through media platforms.
He emphasized that these achievements are the result of the collective effort of all football stakeholders in Tanzania, including clubs, players, coaches, referees, sponsors, and supporters, who continue to elevate the Tanzanian Premier League’s profile both in Africa and internationally.
With its growing reputation, the NBC Premier League is not only raising the bar for Tanzanian football but also positioning itself as one of Africa’s fastest-growing leagues.
