Mecky Maxime takes over as Mbeya City Head Coach

By Victoria Godfrey

Mbeya City Football Club has announced the appointment of Mecky Maxime as its new head coach on a two-year contract.

Maxime replaces Malale Hamsini, who parted ways with the club following a string of disappointing results in the NBC Tanzania Mainland Premier League.

According to Mbeya City’s Media Officer, Gwamaka Mwankota, the new coach will officially begin his duties when the players return to camp on December 15.

“After the FIFA break, players were given 10 days off to rest. Maxime will join them in camp to lead preparations for upcoming matches,” Mwankota said.

Mbeya City currently sits 12th in the league standings, having played 10 matches, with two wins, two draws, and six losses, totaling eight points.

The Premier League is on a temporary pause to allow the national team to compete in the upcoming AFCON tournament in Morocco this December.

With a challenging season ahead, Maxime faces the task of steering Mbeya City back to form and climbing the league table.
