Azam FC takes short break as Ibenge prepares squad for next challenges

By Flora Mkoloma

After a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Simba SC, Azam FC head coach Florent Ibenge has confirmed that the club’s management has granted the players a short break to recharge.

Ibenge revealed that the squad will remain on leave until December 22, after which they will immediately resume preparations for upcoming matches in the NBC Tanzania Mainland Premier League.

“The team will take a brief pause following our game against Simba. When we return, we will hit the ground running and focus on preparing for the next fixtures,” Ibenge said.

The coach emphasized that the league will resume once the national team completes its commitments at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled from December 22 to January 1 in Morocco.

Reflecting on the win, Ibenge admitted the match was challenging but praised his players for their determination, discipline, and tactical adaptability.

He highlighted that the adjustments made during the game were decisive in turning the match in Azam’s favor, securing a crucial victory against their rivals.

“With the right focus and energy, we aim to continue this momentum and perform strongly when the league resumes,” he added.
