Nation finds fresh hope in President Samia’s address

The nation has been given renewed hope following President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s recent speech in Parliament, hailed as a guiding light after a challenging election period.

Maiko Salali, Executive Director of Disability Hope (FDH), a non-governmental organization supporting people with disabilities, described the address as timely and reassuring, saying it speaks directly to the nation’s aspirations for healing and unity.

Salali extended his condolences to all Tanzanians for the pain and challenges experienced during the elections and stressed that under President Samia’s leadership, the country is on course to restore peace and solidarity.

“The President has opened the door for dialogue. This is a strong signal that Tanzania has a leader who listens, cares for her people, and is committed to moving the nation forward together,” he said.

He noted the particular vulnerabilities faced by people with disabilities during times of unrest, emphasizing that they often bear the brunt of conflict.

The decision by the President to grant amnesty and release detained youth, he said, acts as a form of national healing, restoring confidence among groups most affected by unrest.

“The platform of reconciliation gives the nation a chance to heal and regain collective strength,” Salali added, praising President Samia for prioritizing dialogue over division.

Addressing the youth, he reminded them that they are the nation’s guardians and urged them to steer clear of actions that could threaten peace or sow division.

“We may differ in views that is democracy but we must not let differences harm the nation,” he warned.

Salali also called on political leaders to see this period as an opportunity to restore Tanzania’s enduring culture of peace, love, and unity values that have sustained the country across generations.
