The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Angellah Jasmine Mbelwa Kairuki (MP), has urged the Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) to increase strategic investments to strengthen its business and improve services across the country.
Speaking during an official visit to TTCL on November 26, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, Minister Kairuki emphasized the need for investments in the National Backbone Project, Fibre to Home services, and data management infrastructure to enhance competitiveness and meet the growing demands of Tanzania’s digital economy.
Accompanied by Deputy Minister Dr. Switbert Zacharia Mkama (MP), Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Nicolaus Merinyo Mkapa, and ministry officials, the Minister received a performance briefing from TTCL Chief Executive Officer, CPA Moremi Marwa, and inspected the company’s Network Operation Center (NOC) and National Internet Data Centre.
These facilities are crucial for monitoring the country’s network services and safeguarding key communication infrastructure.
Minister Kairuki praised TTCL staff for the progress made so far but stressed the urgency of accelerating service improvements to ensure reliable communications for both urban and rural communities.
She also highlighted the need to strengthen human resources, enhance staff capacity, modernize infrastructure, and expand data services that fuel Tanzania’s digital economy.
Deputy Minister Dr. Mkama called on TTCL to improve service quality through its network towers, particularly in rural areas, while exploring new markets for the National Backbone and embracing innovations to remain competitive in the telecommunications sector.
In response, CEO CPA Moremi Marwa thanked the Minister for her guidance, pledging that TTCL will continue innovating, improving services for citizens, and efficiently managing the country’s communication infrastructure.
She reaffirmed TTCL’s commitment to becoming a modern, digitally-driven institution aligned with Tanzania’s development goals.
