Ambassador Liberata Mulamula, Special African Union Envoy on Women, Peace, and Security, joined leading African women leaders to mark the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Women, Peace, and Security Agenda.
The celebration, hosted in Windhoek, brought together former women presidents and prominent female leaders across the continent.
They attended the event at the invitation of Namibia’s President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
During the gathering, Ambassador Mulamula held talks with Namibia’s Foreign Minister and met former presidents including Ethiopia’s Sahle-Work Zewde, Liberia’s Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and Catherine Samba-Panza of the Central African Republic.
The event provided a platform for leaders to discuss progress on women’s development, highlight key achievements, and reflect on challenges in implementing the UN agenda over the past 25 years.
The gathering also included women leaders from various African nations and representatives of regional and international institutions, reinforcing Africa’s commitment to women’s leadership and peacebuilding.
