The national amputee football team, Tembo Warriors, are now firmly focused on the semi-finals of the CECAAF Championship after a commanding 4–1 win over Uganda in Burundi on Thursday.
Head coach Ivo Mapunda said the team has shifted its full attention to tomorrow’s clash against tournament hosts Burundi, describing it as the most important game so far.
“Our eyes are now on tomorrow’s game. What happened before is history. We must prepare well and ensure we defeat the hosts to book a place in the final,” said Mapunda.
He credited the players for showing discipline and following instructions, stressing that their ability to learn from mistakes made in the opening game was the key to victory against Uganda.
Meanwhile, the Second Vice President of the Tanzania Amputee Football Federation (TAFF), Rahel Pallangyo, said the team’s preparations have been strong and expressed confidence they will deliver.
“What matters most is the effort and commitment the team has put into training. That’s what will carry them through to the final,” she said.
Pallangyo called on Tanzanians to continue offering prayers and support, urging fans to stand behind the Tembo Warriors as they push for a place in the final and, ultimately, aim to bring the trophy home.
