Zanzibar presidential candidate on the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) ticket, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has pledged to expand business support and build new markets if re-elected for another five-year term.
Speaking to traders at Mwanakwerekwe market in Magharibi ‘B’ District, Dr. Mwinyi highlighted the government’s efforts to empower small and medium businesses.
He said that during the current administration, the government disbursed 96 billion shillings to traders as business capital.
“We know some traders have not yet received this support, but in the next term, we will increase the allocation so that more people can benefit,” Dr. Mwinyi said.
He also promised to construct additional markets in areas such as Kibanda Maiti, Kisauni, Fuoni, Kwahaji Tumbo, and Mwera.
These new facilities, he said, will give traders better opportunities to grow their businesses and help solve the challenges they face.
Dr. Mwinyi encouraged the business community to continue supporting his leadership, assuring them that his administration will remain committed to creating opportunities for economic growth in Zanzibar.
