JKT Queens set sights on African Champions League glory

After claiming the CECAFA Women’s Cup, JKT Queens are now shifting their focus to the African Champions League, aiming to make a strong mark on the continental stage.

As CECAFA’s representatives, JKT Queens earned their place in Africa’s premier women’s football competition following their impressive performance in the recent CECAFA Women’s Championship in Kenya.

Masau Bwire, JKT/Tanzania spokesperson and Public Relations Officer for JKT Queens, said preparations are already underway to ensure the team is fully ready for the upcoming challenges.

“Our goal is clear—we are going to compete fiercely and aim for the championship in Africa,” Bwire said.

He added, “Within CECAFA, JKT currently faces no serious rivals. Yet, our region is often underestimated due to limited resources. This time, we are determined to prove that our football is among the best, and we will fight to bring the trophy home.”

Bwire noted that the team participated in the 2023/2024 African Champions League but did not achieve the desired results.

“We analyzed our past performance, identified weaknesses, and both the coaching staff and players have worked hard to improve. Now, we are ready for the challenge,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to the team’s management and the government for their support and recognition, which have motivated the players as they prepare for the continental tournament.

Bwire also called on Tanzanians to rally behind the team. “Our success will be a victory for the entire nation,” he said.
