Tanzania’s national women’s cricket team will compete in the Africa qualifiers for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Namibia from August 30 to September 5, 2025.
The regional qualifiers will feature eight teams Nigeria, Namibia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Botswana and Uganda all vying for a place in the next stage of the global competition.
The Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) said the team has undergone intensive preparations and is ready to mount a serious challenge.
Head Coach of the national side expressed confidence in his players, highlighting both their physical and mental readiness.
“This tournament is a great opportunity for our players to prove themselves on the international stage. We have put strategies in place to ensure strong performances, and the team has shown high morale and determination to represent Tanzania with pride,” he said.
Players have also appealed for nationwide support, noting that encouragement from home would provide an extra push as they face tough opponents in Namibia.
The qualifiers are considered an important platform for advancing women’s cricket across Africa, giving emerging talents a chance to shine.
For Tanzania, the tournament represents not only an opportunity to chase World Cup dreams but also a chance to raise the profile of cricket nationally and inspire future generations.
