Companies, institutions, public organizations, and individuals have been urged to support Tanzania’s national kabaddi team ahead of its participation in the Kabaddi World Championship, set to take place from September 23 to 28 in Malaysia.

The appeal was made yesterday by Abdallah Nyoni, Chairman of the Tanzania Kabaddi Association (TKSA), during a gala celebrating the 79th anniversary of the Indian Embassy, held at the Indian Cultural Center in Dar es Salaam.

Nyoni emphasized that stakeholder support would help the association nurture young talent and enable the national team to compete effectively on the international stage.

"We have several international and youth competitions approaching, and we request support to ensure our teams can participate fully and showcase their talent," Nyoni said.

He added that the gala also provided an opportunity to assess both youth and senior players in preparation for upcoming global events.

Acting Indian Ambassador to Tanzania, Lakshay Anand, extended his best wishes to the Tanzanian players, praising the embassy’s ongoing support for kabaddi. He noted that the sport has contributed significantly to strengthening relations between India and Tanzania.
