CCM presidential candidate, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has pledged to kickstart the process for a new constitution within 100 days, if voters grant her the mandate to assume office in October 2025.

Dr. Samia made the announcement on Thursday before thousands of citizens at the official launch of CCM’s campaign at Tanganyika Packers Ground in Kawe, Dar es Salaam.

“Within 100 days, guided by the 4R philosophy, I will engage political stakeholders, civil society, and the private sector. We will establish a commission to initiate dialogue, reconciliation, and create the foundation for a new constitutional process,” she said.

The effort to draft a new constitution in Tanzania started in 2014. Since taking office in 2021, President Samia has shown firm determination to revive the process, beginning with the creation of a task force that collected and analyzed views from various democracy stakeholders.

The announcement comes as part of her broader campaign promise to strengthen democracy, promote inclusivity, and ensure that the voices of all Tanzanians are heard in shaping the country’s future.
