Luhaga Mpina, presidential candidate for the ACT Wazalendo party, has vowed to address pressing challenges facing Tanzanians, including the controversial closure of churches, if he wins the October 2025 elections.

Speaking to residents of Katoro today, August 20, 2025, during a campaign sponsorship rally, Mpina said he is well aware of the everyday struggles of citizens, ranging from agriculture, livestock keeping, trade, mining, and boda-boda operations, to social issues such as church closures and security concerns.

“Our nation is going through tough times. I know the difficulties faced by farmers, fishermen, livestock keepers, traders, boda-boda riders, women vendors, small-scale miners, and even those affected by abductions and church closures. I have decided to run for president to tackle these problems,” Mpina said.

He added that his vision is to form a government of honest leaders who will stop public fund misuse and ensure resources are directed toward improving the lives of ordinary Tanzanians.

Mpina’s remarks come as debates intensify over church operations, economic hardships, and public accountability, highlighting the issues that are central to the upcoming election campaigns.
