The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has completed the mandatory 24-hour display of presidential nomination forms, marking another milestone in preparations for the 2025 General Election.
On Thursday evening, the Director of Elections, Mr. Ramadhani Kailima, led INEC officials in removing the forms from the commission’s notice board after the legally required period had elapsed.
The forms, submitted by candidates for the presidency of the United Republic of Tanzania, were displayed to provide room for objections against any nomination.
As stipulated by law, objections may be filed by another presidential candidate, the Registrar of Political Parties, or the Attorney General.
According to INEC, the forms were posted at 10:00 p.m. on August 27, 2025 nomination day and were removed at 10:00 p.m. on August 28, 2025.
The commission stressed that the process is essential to ensuring transparency, accountability, and public trust in the electoral process.
The conclusion of the display exercise sets the stage for the official campaign period, which will see presidential candidates present their policies and visions to Tanzanians ahead of the October polls.
