Speaking at the meeting organized by the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC), Prof. Kahyarara stressed that the ministry is committed to fully implementing the President’s instructions in partnership with stakeholders, aiming to address key challenges, including persistent traffic congestion in Dar es Salaam.
He highlighted that investment in Kwala Inland Port, located in Kibaha, Pwani Region, will not only streamline cargo transport but also create economic opportunities for Tanzania’s private sector.
“You, as experts, have valuable insights. Let us use this platform to discuss practical strategies that will reduce congestion caused by trucks moving in and out of Dar es Salaam Port,” Prof. Kahyarara said.
TASAC Director-General, Mr. Mohamed Salum, said the meeting’s goal is to gather stakeholders’ views and recommend the best ways to implement the President’s directives effectively.
Meanwhile, the President of the Tanzania Freight Forwarders Association (TAFFA), Mr. Edward Urio, confirmed that freight operators are ready and actively working at Kwala Inland Port.
He urged the Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) to maximize the port’s potential, including transporting copper cargo from neighboring countries, to further reduce truck traffic in the city center.
