The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has officially invited local and international investors to participate in the redevelopment of the Mwl. Julius K. Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds in Dar es Salaam under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
The 55.39-acre site along Kilwa Road in Temeke is strategically located near the National Stadium, TAZARA railway station, Standard Gauge Railway Station, Dar es Salaam port, and Julius Nyerere International Airport, with convenient access via the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network.
TanTrade plans to transform the grounds into a world-class trade and exhibition hub featuring exhibition halls, conference centers, convention facilities, recreational areas, offices, restaurants, gateways, and promenades.
The project is expected to start operations in 2027, targeting trade and exhibition opportunities during AFCON-2027.
Eligible investors are invited to submit their expressions of interest for the Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Maintain-Transfer (DBFOMT) project.
Submissions should include company profiles, legal documents, financial capacity evidence, project concepts, implementation schedules, estimated capital investment, concession period, and proposed benefits to TanTrade through land lease and revenue-sharing arrangements.
Approved projects must commence within 18 months of signing a performance contract and providing a bank guarantee.
TanTrade will evaluate submissions and shortlist successful applicants, who will then be invited to submit a pre-feasibility study in accordance with the PPP Act, Cap 103, and its regulations.
The deadline for submission of investment expressions of interest is 5 October 2025 at 16:00 hours EAT.
This initiative provides a significant opportunity for investors to participate in Tanzania’s growing trade and exhibition sector while contributing to the country’s economic development.
