ACT-Wazalendo leaders receive Massive welcome in Simiyu

By The Respondent Reporter

ACT-Wazalendo National Chairman Othman Masoud Othman, together with senior party leaders, received a warm and energetic welcome today in Simiyu Region.

Thousands of party members, supporters, and local residents from across the region gathered in Mwandoya Ward, Kisesa Constituency, to greet the leaders.

The visit follows similar receptions held on August 9 and 10 in Zanzibar, which included the party’s presidential candidates for both the United Republic of Tanzania and Zanzibar.

The event came after ACT-Wazalendo’s Special National Congress in Dar es Salaam on August 6, where Luhaga Mpina and Ms. Fatma Abdulhabib Ferej were endorsed as the party’s presidential and running-mate candidates for the Union, while Othman Masoud Othman was confirmed as the candidate for Zanzibar’s presidency in the October general elections.

The Simiyu reception drew more than 1,400 new party members, alongside two councilors who recently left Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).

Also in attendance was Ms. Rosemary Kirigini, former Member of Parliament and Chairperson of BAWACHA, who previously served as District Commissioner for Maswa and Meatu districts under CCM and CHADEMA.

Thousands of Kisesa residents and party supporters pledged their backing for Hon. Mpina, promising full support in the upcoming elections.
