Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga SC) has confirmed the inclusion of five senior players in its youth team ahead of the highly anticipated final match against the Safari Lager Champions, scheduled for July 26, 2025, at KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
The club has already unveiled four of the players Denis Nkane, Kubwa Shomari, Dickson Kibabage, and Aziz Andambwile with the fifth player expected to be announced soon after final administrative procedures are completed.
Yanga’s youth team head coach Vincent Barnabas told journalists on July 23 that the reinforcements aim to inject strength, confidence, and experience into the youthful side as they prepare to face formidable opponents.
“We’ve officially named four players to support the youth squad. The fifth will be introduced tomorrow once the internal process is finalized,” said Coach Barnabas.
Yanga youth team captain Hamis Nanguka said his teammates are well-prepared and determined to win the trophy, adding that the team’s motivation is high and the training sessions have been productive.
“Our opponents are talented and come from different regions across the country, but we are equally capable and focused. We want that trophy and we won’t let it slip away,” Nanguka said.
The final match will pit Yanga’s youth side against the champions of the Safari Lager talent development program, a platform that scouts and nurtures young footballers from across Tanzania.
Safari Lager Champions head coach Sekilojo Chambua said his players have undergone psychological preparation to handle the pressure of playing against a club as big as Yanga.
“Most of our boys are young talents who’ve never played at this level before. That’s why we focused on building their mental resilience and confidence ahead of this crucial game,” he said.
The team, which entered camp after a nationwide talent scouting exercise, comprises some of the most promising players identified through Safari Lager’s grassroots program.
Captain Ibrahim Salum of the Safari Lager Champions described the upcoming fixture as a milestone in their football journey, noting that it presents a rare opportunity to be noticed by top clubs and agents.
“We’re ready. This is not just a match it’s a window into the future. Playing against Yanga is a chance to gain exposure, experience, and possibly attract opportunities both locally and abroad,” Salum explained.
The final promises a thrilling showcase of youth talent, ambition, and the spirit of competition, with both sides eager to lift the coveted title and make a mark on the national football scene.
