The 2025 Tanzania National Volleyball League (TVNL) is set to officially begin tomorrow, July 25, at the MwembeYanga grounds in Dar es Salaam, bringing together 23 teams from across the country to compete for national glory.

Organized by the Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF), the league will be played in two rounds. The first round will run from July 25 through August, with matches taking place at the same venue.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, TVF’s Technical Director, Zakaria Bizimana, confirmed that preparations are complete and that all participating teams have arrived, ready to contest the new season.

He noted that the official opening ceremony will be presided over by the Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council (BMT), Ms. Neema Msitha.

“We are fully prepared. Everything is in place, and we’re excited to open the league with a special launch event,” said Bizimana. “We urge all sports lovers and the general public to turn out in large numbers to witness top-tier volleyball action and support our local talent.”

He added that the first matches will officially begin on Saturday, July 26.

The defending champions Tanzania Prisons will return to defend their titles in both the men’s and women’s categories.

This year’s league features a strong line-up of 23 teams, drawn from various regions. Women's teams include Orkeeswa, Korosho Queens, Malikia, Notorious, Jeshi Stars, Tanzania Prisons, KIUT, and Bandari.
