The Tanzania Boxing Federation (BFT) is preparing to conduct a One-Star International Coaching Course later this July, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the sport in the country.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of a national training programme in Dar es Salaam, BFT President Lukelo Willilo said the international course will target coaches, further equipping them with global-level knowledge and skills.
The just-concluded national training focused on Level Two Coaches, Referees, and Judges. It brought together 18 coaches and five referees and judges from regions including Dar es Salaam, Coast, Iringa, Njombe, Mwanza, and Tabora.
“Our goal is to continue building a strong team of professionals who can train and officiate the sport to high standards. This will help Tanzanian boxing grow and gain recognition internationally,” Willilo said.
He added, “We thank God for this important milestone. As BFT, we are fulfilling our promise to empower boxing experts across the country. I’m very pleased with the level of commitment shown by the participants, and we will continue to support their development.”
Willilo noted that the boxing platform in Tanzania has expanded significantly in recent years, and BFT is committed to taking it even further.
“What’s coming next will be even more exciting. We are moving toward international standards by offering more advanced training opportunities,” he said.
