A South African royal has explores Tanzania’s approach to forest conservation and ecotourism during a visit to the country’s premier trade event, the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), commonly known as SabaSaba.
Prince Celipilo Ngobese of KwaZulu-Natal visited the pavilion of the Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) on Thursday, where he was introduced to the agency’s initiatives in sustainable forest management, modern beekeeping, and the promotion of eco-friendly tourism.
Speaking after the tour, Prince Ngobese expressed deep admiration for Tanzania’s commitment to preserving its natural resources while creating opportunities for sustainable development.
“I am truly inspired by Tanzania’s efforts to conserve its forests and promote ecotourism as a tool for both environmental protection and community empowerment,” he said.
His visit comes as thousands of participants and international visitors continue to flock to the SabaSaba trade fair, which has become a key platform for showcasing investment opportunities in Tanzania’s public and private sectors.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, through its agencies, is using the event to highlight the country’s vast potential in nature-based tourism and value-added forestry activities.
Officials say the goal is to attract regional and global partnerships in conservation, ecotourism, and forest product development.
The trade fair, which runs annually in July, has grown into one of the most important economic events in East Africa, bringing together stakeholders from across the continent and beyond.
