Simba sign players quietly, eyes ruthless striker for new season

Tanzanian football powerhouse Simba SC has revealed that it is quietly finalizing new signings to strengthen its squad for the upcoming season, with official player unveilings expected soon.

The disclosure comes as Tanzania prepares to host the opening match of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) against Burkina Faso on August 2 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking recently, Simba’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, said the club has already signed seven players from within and outside the country to add depth and quality to the team.

“So far, everything is going according to plan. The players have been signed — now we’re just waiting for the right time to introduce them,” said Ahmed.

“Simba fans should remain calm. The club is handling the transfer process professionally and with strategic intent.”he added

He added that head coach Fadlu Davids has outlined key areas that need reinforcements, including a left-back, a central defender, a defensive midfielder to partner with Yusuph Kagoma, and an attacking midfielder to improve the team’s creativity.

“In terms of the midfield, the coach wants a strong defensive presence as well as an offensive playmaker to link up with the strikers. These positions are a priority in the ongoing transfer process,” he noted.

Ahmed further stated that, although Simba already has forwards Leonel Ateba and Steven Mukwala, the technical bench is in search of a more aggressive and clinical striker who can dominate in the final third.

“The coach is looking for a striker with killer instinct someone more powerful, more decisive,” he said. “We’re not limiting ourselves to local or international markets. Whether the player is in Tanzania, Africa, or anywhere else  even if he’s hidden underground  we’ll go find him.”

According to Ahmed, Simba’s scouting team has been active in various African countries and has already submitted detailed reports on several targets. The club is now conducting a thorough evaluation to identify the most suitable candidate.

“We’re analyzing players closely their strengths, weaknesses, consistency, and ability to adapt to our system,” he said.

“If we find someone who meets our needs, we will move forward and sign him without hesitation.”he added

Simba SC’s low-profile but calculated approach to the transfer window reflects a determined strategy aimed at assembling a balanced, competitive team that can reclaim domestic dominance and make a mark on the continental stage.
