The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, today visited the pavilion of the Ministry of Energy at the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, commonly known as Sabasaba.
President Mwinyi was warmly received by the Head of Government Communication Unit at the Ministry of Energy, Ms. Neema Chalila Mbuja, who briefed him on the progress made in implementing Tanzania’s National Clean Cooking Energy Strategy.
Ms. Mbuja explained that the initiative is part of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s broader agenda as the national champion for clean cooking energy.
She noted that the strategy aims to ensure that by 2034, at least 80 percent of Tanzanians have access to clean and modern cooking energy solutions.
“The Ministry, through its various institutions, is practically implementing this agenda in support of President Samia’s vision for a healthier and more sustainable future,” Ms. Mbuja told President Mwinyi.
So far, the Ministry of Energy has launched two key frameworks to support this vision: the National Clean Cooking Strategy and a Communication Strategy, both designed to accelerate public awareness and uptake of clean cooking technologies across the country.
The visit underscores the government's commitment to fostering an enabling environment for its institutions to deliver on national energy goals, especially those aimed at reducing the reliance on biomass fuels and improving health outcomes related to household air pollution.
