The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has been named the best government authority exhibitor at this year’s Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), popularly known as Sabasaba, in recognition of its outstanding efforts to promote transparency and public awareness in procurement.
Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa presented the award during the official closing ceremony of the 49th edition of the trade fair, commending PPRA for its role in showcasing modern procurement systems and educating citizens about their rights and the use of public resources.
“This award underscores our commitment to building a procurement system that is transparent, efficient and accountable,” said PPRA Coastal Zone Manager Vicky Mollel, who received the award on behalf of the Authority.
She noted that the PPRA pavilion attracted more than 1,000 visitors, many of whom sought to understand procurement processes, citizens' rights, and how to track the implementation of public projects funded by taxpayers’ money.
“This year’s exhibition was unique. We saw remarkable public interest. People were eager to learn how procurement works and how they can monitor government spending in their communities,” Mollel added.
The Sabasaba fair brought together government agencies, international organisations, and private sector stakeholders to showcase innovations, services, and technologies while educating the public on economic and development initiatives.
PPRA’s win highlights its growing visibility and relevance as a key player in safeguarding integrity in public procurement—an area critical to good governance and national development.
