Ngome Handball Team has affirmed its readiness to defend its championship title as the CDF Cup tournament kicks off today in Dar es Salaam.
Head Coach Shazir Ibrahim expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and determination ahead of the tournament, which brings together military sports teams from across the country.
The official opening ceremony will be held at Azam Complex Stadium in Chamazi, with the Minister of Defence and National Service, Dr. Stergomena Tax, expected to officiate as the guest of honor.
“We are fully prepared and motivated to retain our title,” said Coach Ibrahim in an interview with The Respondent online.
“As the defending champions in handball, our focus has been on intense training to ensure we meet our goals this season.”he added
The CDF Cup, organized by the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF), features a variety of sports disciplines.
Teams from different commands, branches, and military units will compete in events including handball, basketball, netball, athletics, football, wrestling, and more.
The tournament not only fosters competitive spirit and physical fitness within the armed forces, but also strengthens unity and discipline among service members through sports.
