A total of 19 teams have officially confirmed their participation and completed registration for an upcoming national netball tournament set to take place in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, Kassim Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of the organizing institution, said the teams include top-tier clubs from the Netball Premier League as well as teams from various universities and colleges across the country.
“Preparations are in full swing, and we are still welcoming more teams to collect forms and confirm their participation. The goal is to make this tournament as inclusive and competitive as possible,” he said.
Kassim further revealed that the organizers are planning a high-level meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports, Mr. Gerson Msigwa, and the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner.
The meeting will focus on strategies to elevate the tournament’s profile and ensure it receives the national attention it deserves.
He noted that the meeting is scheduled to take place once the nomination and application processes for various leadership positions are completed.
According to Kassim, several stakeholders and partners have already shown interest in supporting the event, expressing a shared commitment to restoring the prestige of netball as one of Tanzania’s key sporting disciplines.
