The Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office for Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disabilities,Ridhiwani Kikwete, has urged young Tanzanians to actively take advantage of the numerous opportunities available to them, including loans and various empowerment funds designed to boost economic participation.
Hon. Kikwete made the remarks during a visit to the Prime Minister’s Office joint pavilion at the ongoing SABASABA International Trade Fair in Dar es Salaam on July 4, 2025.
“The government remains committed to ensuring that different groups benefit from public procurement. Under the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) Act, 30 percent of all public procurement must be allocated to support youth, women, and persons with disabilities,” he said.
He highlighted the existence of dedicated funds for persons with disabilities, youth, and other citizens to empower them economically.
He encouraged young people and citizens to fully utilise these funds, assuring that doing so will significantly reduce calls for economic support.
Minister Ridhiwani also called upon journalists, public servants, and stakeholders to intensify efforts to raise awareness about these funds and their benefits to the public.
He further instructed government departments and institutions to prioritise public education, especially targeting youth, on available loan schemes and empowerment programmes.
“Our clear directive is for all government departments and institutions to continue making education a top priority. The Sixth Phase Government, led by Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has made significant strides in financial empowerment, capacity building, and educational advancement. We have ensured that citizens receive the knowledge they need to improve their livelihoods,” Minister Ridhiwani noted.
Finally, he appealed to all Tanzanians, especially as the nation approaches the upcoming general elections, to safeguard the peace that currently prevails to ensure the country achieves its developmental goals.
