Boxing fans in Tanzania are set for a thrilling showdown as the highly anticipated Dar Boxing Derby returns on July 26, 2025, at Leaders Club Grounds in Dar es Salaam.
The announcement was made by Sulemani Semunyu, a professional boxing promoter from Peaktime Media and Sports Agent, during a fighter unveiling event held at Mabibo Grounds.
Speaking at the launch, Semunyu emphasized that this year’s Derby is not only about showcasing talent but also about making the sport accessible to all.
With ticket prices starting at TSh 5,000, he said the goal is to attract a large audience and give Tanzanians a chance to enjoy high-quality boxing entertainment at an affordable cost.
“We’ve held matches in places like Ubungo Plaza, Super Dome, Songea, and Mtwara. Now, we’re heading to Leaders Club, a venue known for major artistic performances. This time, boxing is taking center stage,” he said.
He went on to express appreciation to stakeholders who have already partnered in organizing the event and invited more sponsors to join hands in supporting the growth of the sport.
According to Semunyu, the Derby presents a great opportunity for sponsors to associate with a dynamic and rapidly growing boxing scene.
The main event will feature an electrifying bout between Mfaume Mfaume and Kudakwache Banda. Mfaume, who is expected to enter training camp soon, spoke with confidence about his preparation and called out a local fighter who previously withdrew from a planned match.
“He should publicly apologize to the sponsors and fans. I’m ready to fight anyone local or international,” said Mfaume.
Adding flavor to the lineup is crowd favorite Karim ‘Mtu Kazi’ Mandonga, who promised an explosive performance using a new technique he calls “Kilumbi lumbi”.
He declared his readiness to face Shaban Kaoneka, warning that the match could get intense. “Kaoneka got rich after a win, but his time has come.
Make sure an ambulance is on standby because he’s in for a serious beating,” Mandonga quipped, drawing laughter and cheers from fans.
The undercard is equally packed with action. Ibrahim Class will take on Nassib Ramadhan, Said Bwanga will face Loren Japhet, while Hamad Furahisha is set to battle Japhate Herman.
In other matchups, Adam Peter will clash with Abdallah Ponda, and Halid Karama will test his skills against Abdurazaq Hamis.
More bouts will see Vigulo Shafii face Idd Pazi, Richard Chopsla go up against Rashid Said, and Ramadhan Shauri compete with Issa Nampepeche. Meanwhile, Ismail Ibrahim will exchange punches with James Kibazange.
The women’s category will also take the spotlight, with Sarah Alex facing Stumai Muki, and Debora Mwenda going head-to-head with Asia Meshack.
With an exciting lineup of male and female fighters, the 2025 Dar Boxing Derby promises to be an unforgettable night of strength, passion, and sporting excellence.
Fans are encouraged to turn out in large numbers to support their favorite boxers and experience the electrifying energy of professional boxing at its finest.
