Tanzania’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Dr. Habib Kambanga, has officially received and welcomed the Tanzanian delegation that arrived in Kigali ahead of the 16th Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) between Tanzania and Rwanda, scheduled for July 24–26, 2025.

The reception took place at the Tanzanian Embassy in Kigali, where Ambassador Kambanga met with the delegation and reaffirmed the importance of the meeting in deepening bilateral ties.

“The JPC is a strategic platform that strengthens the brotherhood between our two nations,” said Ambassador Kambanga.

“It enables us to engage in comprehensive dialogue on shared development goals, and to enhance cooperation in key areas including security, trade, infrastructure, and people-to-people connections.”he added

He urged delegates to seize the opportunity to identify new areas of collaboration, design effective implementation strategies, and ensure that discussions remain focused on advancing Tanzania’s national interests.

The meeting also featured remarks from Ambassador Ali Bujiku, Director of the Africa Department at Tanzania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation. Ambassador Bujiku emphasized the need for the team to be guided by professionalism, national pride, and thorough preparation.

“This is a crucial stage that involves reviewing Tanzania’s positions on the key issues, ensuring alignment across sectors, and finalizing all technical procedures to ensure the success of the meeting,” he said.

The Tanzanian delegation includes senior officials from key government ministries and institutions, as well as sectoral experts.

The agenda for the 16th JPC spans a wide range of high-impact sectors such as Trade and Industry, Infrastructure and Transport, ICT, Security, Tourism, Agriculture, Energy, Education, and overall economic cooperation.

The JPC meeting serves as the highest-level bilateral mechanism between the two countries and is expected to culminate in agreements that will accelerate joint development initiatives and benefit citizens on both sides of the border.

The outcomes of the meeting will also support regional integration efforts within the East African Community, to which both countries are founding members.
