Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga SC) brought Dar es Salaam to a standstill on June 30, 2025, as they held a colourful victory parade to celebrate a record-breaking 2024/25 season in which they secured five major trophies.
Thousands of fans lined the streets, waving flags and singing club anthems as the team paraded through the city aboard an open-top bus, proudly displaying their silverware.
The parade showcased the club’s extraordinary achievements this season, which include winning the NBC Premier League title following a decisive victory against their archrivals Simba SC.
They also lifted the CRDB Federation Cup after beating Singida Big Stars in the final, claimed the Union Cup, won the Community Shield at the start of the season, and emerged champions of the Toyota Cup an invitational tournament held in South Africa.
Dressed in their iconic green and yellow colours, Yanga fans turned the city into a sea of celebration as the team made stops at major points in the city.
The atmosphere reflected not only the club’s sporting success but also its strong emotional connection with supporters across the country.
As part of the celebrations, President of Zanzibar Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi awarded Yanga SC a cash prize of TZS100 million in recognition of their exceptional performance throughout the season.
He praised the team for raising the profile of Tanzanian football and serving as role models for aspiring athletes.
“Yanga’s success is a source of pride for all Tanzanians. Their achievements show what dedication, teamwork and proper leadership can accomplish,” said Dr Mwinyi.
This latest triumph further cements Yanga’s status as one of the most successful football clubs in Tanzania and East Africa.
It also reflects the growing strength and professionalism of Tanzanian football, which has witnessed increased investment, rising fan engagement and more competitive continental outings in recent years. As the club looks ahead to the next season, their five-trophy haul sets a new benchmark in the local game and offers hope for continued success on the African stage.
