Veteran golfer Major Chediel Msechu of Lugalo Golf Club has called for the continued organization of the Lina PG Tour, saying the tournament plays a key role in identifying and nurturing golf talent across Tanzania.

Speaking during the third season of the Lina PG Tour held at the TPC Moshi golf course in Kilimanjaro Region, Major Msechu commended the organizers for their professionalism and commitment to the growth of the sport.

The tournament was established to honor the legacy of the late Lina Nkya, a former player for the national women’s golf team.

“These are well-organized and impactful tournaments. I commend the team behind Lina PG Tour and encourage them to remain committed. This platform has the potential to elevate the sport and uncover new talent across the country,” he said.

Major Msechu noted that the tournament has continued to offer strong competition, especially for professional players who are looking to earn opportunities to participate in international events.

“Winners of this tour get the chance to represent Tanzania in global competitions. That’s a big deal. The Lina PG Tour is a major step forward for golf in Tanzania, and I believe we can go far if we remain consistent in such efforts,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rachel Mushi, a golfer from Kilimanjaro Golf Club, shared how golf has positively transformed her life.

She said the sport gave her the opportunity to fly on a plane for the first time and to build connections with people from different parts of the country and beyond.

“Golf changed my family’s life. It helped us move forward. I urge young people to embrace this sport. If they want to become great players, they must train consistently and never give up,” said Mushi.

The Lina PG Tour continues to gain recognition as a powerful platform that celebrates legacy while investing in the future of Tanzanian golf.
