Dodoma, — Tanzania’s National Environment Management Council (NEMC) is leveraging this year’s Public Service Week to highlight its environmental protection efforts and promote transparency, innovation, and stakeholder engagement.

The week-long exhibition, held at Chinangali Park in Dodoma from June 16 to 23, brings together public institutions and agencies in a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing citizen access to government services.

Speaking at the event, NEMC’s Acting Central Zone Manager, Mr. Novatus Mushi, stated that the Council is using the platform to showcase its key services, disseminate findings from recent environmental research, and educate the public on critical environmental issues affecting communities across Tanzania.

“The Council is committed to ensuring all Tanzanians live in a safe and sustainable environment. This week allows us to demonstrate how we are making our services more accessible while building awareness around environmental protection,” Mushi said.

NEMC is also emphasizing the adoption of digital tools to streamline environmental governance. Services such as online registration for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) are being featured, underscoring the Council’s efforts to modernize and align with investor-friendly regulatory frameworks.

“We are making deliberate efforts to improve the ease of doing business in Tanzania, particularly for investors concerned with environmental compliance,” said Mr. Nicodemus Tindwa, Manager of Human Resources and Administration at NEMC.

“Digital transformation is central to this mission, ensuring our processes are faster, more transparent, and more inclusive.”he added

Tindwa added that the exhibition also serves as a platform for the public and stakeholders to offer feedback, raise concerns, and contribute ideas that could improve service delivery.

Public Service Week, celebrated annually across Tanzania, features participation from ministries, agencies, and regional administrations.

The event includes live demonstrations, educational outreach, and on-site service provision, reflecting the government’s broader push toward accountable and citizen-centered governance.

As Tanzania positions itself as a competitive investment destination in East Africa, NEMC’s engagement during Public Service Week reflects a growing emphasis on balancing environmental stewardship with economic development.
