Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Information, Communication and Information Technology, Engineer Maryprisca Mahundi, has called on public servants to maintain professionalism and integrity in order to effectively support President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s national development agenda.
Speaking at a district council meeting in Chunya on Monday, Engineer Mahundi stressed that the success of the President’s administration depends heavily on the dedication of civil servants at all levels.
“It is time for all public servants to unite and work diligently to implement development projects. Chunya has earned great respect under President Samia's leadership,” she said.
The meeting was convened to address audit findings from the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) concerning local government finances in the Mbeya Region. It was also attended by Mbeya Regional Commissioner Dr Juma Homera.
Engineer Mahundi, who also serves as a Special Seats Member of Parliament for the Mbeya Region, praised the local Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) leadership in Chunya for their cooperation with the government, crediting the partnership for the area’s visible progress.
“As a former District Commissioner and now a council member, I’ve witnessed significant transformation. Infrastructure is expanding, residents are more engaged in development, and towns are growing. I am proud to be from Chunya,” she added.
Dr Homera commended Mahundi’s leadership, particularly her efforts in championing the Matwiga Water Project a vital initiative aimed at improving access to clean water.
“She worked tirelessly to ensure the Matwiga Water Project became a reality. Without her commitment and collaboration with local leaders, the project wouldn’t have succeeded. Development doesn’t come by chance it requires dedication,” he said.
The statements come as Tanzania’s government continues to prioritize infrastructure, clean water access, and public service delivery across the country under President Samia’s leadership.
