Citizens are being encouraged to gain a clear understanding of the supply chain, a critical process that plays a key role in helping the government achieve its economic and social development goals.

Senior Procurement Officer from the Public Procurement Policy Department, Ms. Vaileth Mwakajisi, emphasized the importance of the supply chain while educating visitors at the Ministry of Finance’s exhibition booth during the ongoing 49th International Trade Fair (Sabasaba) in Dar es Salaam, which started on June 28 and will conclude on July 13.

Ms. Mwakajisi explained that the supply chain encompasses a series of integrated activities, including procurement, ordering, receiving, returning, storage, safekeeping, usage, distribution, and disposal of goods, equipment, or public assets.

This seamless process is designed to ensure that public resources are managed efficiently and transparently.

She further highlighted that the supply chain aims to deliver quality services that meet citizens’ expectations and guarantee value for the public funds spent.

Visitors to the Ministry of Finance’s booth expressed appreciation for the clear explanations provided by experts and the educational materials available, which helped them better understand how the supply chain operates and its significance.

The Ministry’s booth features experts from various departments and affiliated institutions, including the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), the Public Procurement and Supplies Professionals Board (PSPTB), the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA), the Tanzania Investment Guarantee Fund (UTT AMIS), the Self Microfinance Fund, the Capital Markets and Securities Authority (CMSA), and the Tanzania Mercantile Exchange (TMX).

Additional participating institutions include the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), the Capital Markets Tribunal (CMT), Tanzania Investment Bank (TIB), the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), SACCOS Fund, the Public Procurement Appeals Authority (PPAA), and the Government Procurement Services Agency (GPSA).

This coordinated effort demonstrates the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and ensuring that citizens receive maximum benefits from public resources.
