“I came to witness the tangible benefits of development projects supported by the European Union and AFD. This solar power project in Kishapu clearly demonstrates positive impacts for local communities as well as the value of investments made. The work done so far is commendable, and the dedicated team on site is working hard to ensure timely completion so Tanzanians can soon access reliable electricity,” said Ambassador Anne Sophie Ave.
Kishapu District Commissioner, Mr. Peter Masindi, highlighted that through funding amounting to TZS 323 billion from the European Union and AFD, the solar project will generate 150 megawatts of clean energy.
He urged Tanzanians to prepare to utilize this power to accelerate economic growth and national development.
TANESCO’s Project Director, Engineer Timothy Mgaya, added that the European Union and AFD have supported several electricity projects in Tanzania, including the Kakono Solar Project, and the Tanzania-Zambia (TAZA) and Tanzania-Uganda interconnection projects. He confirmed their ongoing commitment to funding additional power initiatives.
