Simba SC continued their impressive run in the NBC Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Singida Black Stars in a match played today at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
The game was tightly contested from the start, with both sides playing cautiously for the first 42 minutes, each trying to break down the other’s defense without success.
However, in the 43rd minute, Simba finally broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal by Steven Mukwala, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Singida Black Stars came out with renewed energy, reorganizing defensively and pressing for an equalizer.
Despite their efforts, they couldn’t find a breakthrough, and Simba held firm to protect their narrow lead.
After 90 minutes of intense play, the final whistle confirmed Simba's victory as they walked off the pitch with a valuable three points.
Speaking after the match, Simba Head Coach Fadlu Davids praised his players for their resilience and fighting spirit, especially considering their recent demanding schedule.
“Our players showed great character despite the fatigue, having just come off the CAF Confederation Cup final on May 25. To return to the pitch today and win is commendable,” Davids said.
Meanwhile, Singida Black Stars Head Coach David Ouma acknowledged the loss but shifted focus to their upcoming CRDB Federation Cup semifinal, scheduled for May 31 at the Tanzanite Stadium in Babati, Manyara Region.
“We accept today’s result, but we believe we should have been awarded two penalties that could have changed the outcome. This match could have gone our way. Now, our attention turns to the Federation Cup, and we’ll work hard to secure a win in Manyara,” Ouma said.
