The much-anticipated 2025 Car Racing Competition has officially begun today in Iringa, bringing together motorsport enthusiasts from across Tanzania and beyond.
The event, which will run for two days, was formally launched by Iringa District Commissioner, Comrade Kheri James.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Comrade Kheri James applauded the organizers and main sponsor, NBC Bank, for their commitment to promoting the sport and supporting local tourism.
“This event is more than just a race. It is a celebration of talent, unity, and our beautiful region,” said Comrade James.
“We are grateful to NBC Bank for believing in the potential of Iringa and for supporting an event that brings our community together and attracts visitors from near and far.”he added
The competition has attracted drivers and teams from within Tanzania as well as from neighboring countries, highlighting the growing popularity of motorsports in the region.
“We’re excited to see Iringa becoming a hub for motorsport,” said one of the international participants. “The terrain here is challenging but beautiful, and the hospitality has been amazing.”he added
In addition to the thrill of the races, the event serves as a platform to promote Iringa’s rich tourism offerings and scenic landscapes across the Southern Highlands.
“Through this competition, we aim to not only entertain but also to showcase the untapped tourism potential of Iringa,” added Comrade James.
