The Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) has played a pivotal role in advancing infrastructure under Tanzania’s Sixth Phase Government, led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Delivering a presentation on behalf of TARURA’s Chief Executive during a strategic communication forum for regional, council, and institutional information officers under the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), Agri-Connect Project Coordinator, Engineer Claver Mwinuka, highlighted how President Samia’s administration has tripled TARURA’s budget to accelerate road development across the country.
“The government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has increased TARURA’s budget threefold with the goal of achieving 85 percent road accessibility nationwide, both in construction and maintenance,” said Eng. Mwinuka.
He emphasized that this major boost in resources has led to transformative outcomes in rural and urban infrastructure.
Key achievements include the construction and rehabilitation of roads, bridges, and drainage systems, alongside the adoption of modern technologies that ensure all-season passability.
These improved roads are not just connecting places, they are connecting people to opportunity. “Farmers and traders now have better access to markets, which is vital for economic growth and poverty reduction,” he noted.
The agency’s achievements reflect the government’s broader commitment to inclusive development and regional connectivity. TARURA’s work continues to serve as a backbone for socio-economic transformation, reinforcing President Samia’s vision of a more mobile and prosperous Tanzania.
