Government commends Mafia Boxing for talent development

The government has commended Mafia Boxing Promotion for its commitment to investing in the sport of boxing and nurturing local talent across Tanzania.

The praise was delivered on Saturday night by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports  and the Government Spokesperson  Mr. Gerson Msigwa, during the fourth season of the Mama Knockout event held at Kijitonyama grounds in Dar es Salaam.

Mr. Msigwa emphasized that the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, fully supports the development of boxing and is committed to backing the sport throughout her time in office.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the boxers who participated, as well as the enthusiastic fans who came out in large numbers to support and enjoy this electrifying event,” he said.

As part of the evening's celebrations, Msigwa presented cash prizes to the winners  both those who won on points and by knockout  on behalf of President Samia.

Among the boxers recognized were Dulla Mbabe, Luqman Kimoko, Abdulrahman Mahona, Frank Shegembe, and Karim Mandonga. 

Mandonga received a special cash award for his outstanding efforts in promoting boxing and his unwavering dedication to the sport.
