The Government of Tanzania has called upon members of the diplomatic community to inform their respective governments that Dodoma is fully prepared to host embassies and diplomatic residences.

Governments are encouraged to allocate funding for the construction of embassy offices and homes on plots of land that have been offered free of charge within the Government City at Mtumba in Dodoma.

This message was delivered by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation,  Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), during a special meeting with the diplomatic corps organized by the Dodoma Regional Commissioner’s Office, held on May 27, 2025.

Minister Kombo emphasized that the foundation of any great achievement is belief in a vision. Since the Government’s decision in 1973 to relocate the capital from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma, Tanzania has remained committed to realizing that vision.

Today, that belief is being turned into reality through large-scale investments in infrastructure and essential public services, creating a city suitable for all, including the diplomatic community.

He noted that Dodoma’s rapid development has created significant investment opportunities, and encouraged ambassadors to connect investors from their countries to the city’s growing potential.

The Minister further urged the Dodoma Regional Commissioner’s Office to provide regular updates on the city's development progress to stakeholders, enabling informed decisions regarding investment and diplomatic presence.

He proposed institutionalizing the annual meeting as a platform for sharing updates on Dodoma’s growth.

Dodoma Regional CommissionerRosemary Senyamule, who hosted the meeting under the theme "Dodoma is Ready: Take Dodoma to the World and Bring the World to Dodoma," highlighted key milestones in the city's transformation.

She outlined advancements in healthcare, education, water supply, electricity, security, transportation, and recreation  all developed to meet international standards.

She assured the diplomatic community that Dodoma offers high-quality services and a safe, modern environment suitable for diplomatic missions.

She also highlighted key sectors for investment, including agriculture, tourism, logistics, manufacturing, construction, and mining, inviting foreign investors to explore and engage in these promising areas.

Senyamule also mentioned the Government’s upcoming flagship project  the development of Hombolo Thematic Satellite City  describing it as a major opportunity for collaboration between the Government and private investors.

Representing the diplomatic corps, the Ambassador of Kenya to TanzaniaIsaac Njenga, commended the Tanzanian Government for the impressive progress made in developing Dodoma.

He and fellow ambassadors toured several key projects, including the Government City at Mtumba, the Benjamin Mkapa Referral Hospital, and the Msalato International Airport, and were highly impressed by what they witnessed.

On behalf of the diplomatic community, Ambassador Njenga expressed full confidence in Dodoma’s readiness and pledged to encourage their home governments to allocate resources for establishing embassies and diplomatic residences in the city.

The gathering of ambassadors and representatives from international organizations in Dodoma coincided with the upcoming 2025/2026 budget presentation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, scheduled for May 28, 2025.
