Dar es Salaam Volleyball League near quarterfinal stage

The Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball League (DAREVA) is gaining intensity as teams continue to clash in thrilling encounters at the Kampala grounds in Dar es Salaam, delivering decisive victories as the competition heads into its critical stages.

This phase marks the final stretch before the quarterfinals, with teams from both Serie A and Serie B battling for the remaining spots. The quarterfinals are scheduled to take place on June 1 at the same venue.

In the men’s division, KIUT edged past Bandari in a tightly contested match, winning 3-2, while Jeshi Stars were narrowly defeated 3-2 by High Voltage in another nail-biter.

Other notable results included Best Six sweeping TCTA 3-0, TPDC cruising to a 3-0 victory over Giraffe, and IP Sports overcoming UDSM with a 3-1 win.

 Kigamboni blanked Twalipo 3-0, and Nyika delivered a strong performance with a 3-0 triumph over Wazo.

In the women’s matches, KIUT emerged victorious in a close 3-2 contest against Tanzania Prisons. Chui dominated TPDC with a 3-0 win and were also awarded a walkover victory against UDSM. Tai convincingly defeated Wazo 3-0.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Peter Kahwaa, Chairperson of the DAREVA League Board, expressed satisfaction with the tournament’s progress.

He noted that the level of competition has been high, with teams showcasing skill and determination as they fight for quarterfinal qualification.

“We invite all fans and supporters to come and witness the talent and excitement on display every Saturday and Sunday at the Kampala grounds. Entry is completely free,” Kahwaa said.

He also made a call to action for sponsors and stakeholders across the region to support the league and help ensure its continued success, emphasizing the importance of collaborative support in uplifting the sport and the participating teams.
