President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has called upon religious leaders to remain steadfast in promoting peace and spiritual guidance among citizens.

Speaking at the National Eid El-Fitr gathering in Dar es Salaam at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), she emphasized the vital role of faith leaders in fostering harmony and national unity.

President Samia cautioned against the misuse of religious platforms for political purposes, warning that such actions could destabilize the nation.

She stated, "It is imperative to restrain those who exploit religious forums to incite hatred against their government. We must recognize that in conflict and division, there are no winners. The responsibility to uphold peace rests not only with the government and security agencies but also with every citizen."

She further assured that the government will not tolerate any attempts to incite discord and hostility that may lead to national instability.

Instead, she reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding human rights and ensuring a peaceful coexistence for all Tanzanians.

Additionally, President Samia urged the Muslim community to carry forward the values of devotion, unity, and solidarity demonstrated throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

Addressing the forthcoming General Election, President Samia urged political stakeholders to act responsibly and refrain from using political ideologies as a means to divide the nation.

She reiterated the government’s willingness to engage with political players through various forums that provide an opportunity for dialogue.

She also acknowledged that prior engagements had led to significant electoral reforms, such as the abolition of the unopposed candidate system and the introduction of an independent National Electoral Commission.

Sharifa B. Nyanga, Director of Presidential Communications at State House, issued the statement, underscoring the President’s unwavering call for unity, peace, and responsible political engagement among all Tanzanians.
