A Non-Governmental Organization, Jamii Kwanza Initiative (JKI), in collaboration with the Amani Street Government Office in Kipunguni Ward, Ilala, Dar es Salaam, extended Eid support to those in need, including orphans and widows, on March 29, 2025.

The initiative aimed to help them celebrate Eid al-Fitr, expected on Monday, depending on the sighting of the moon.

Speaking after distributing the donations, JKI Director Daniel Migera emphasized the importance of giving back to the community, describing it as part of the organization’s commitment to fostering peace, love, and joy.

"We decided to extend a helping hand to promote unity and peace. This donation will allow those in need to fully partake in this special occasion after observing the holy month of Ramadan," Migera said.

He also urged other organizations, stakeholders, and capable individuals to support vulnerable groups, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility.

"We call upon institutions, businesses, and individuals with the means to assist those in need. Acts of kindness like these help strengthen our social bonds and build a more united and compassionate society," he added.

Amani Street Government Chairman Abdi Hashim Mahanyu commended JKI for their generosity, noting that their support had ensured that orphans, widows, and other vulnerable individuals could celebrate Eid with dignity.

"JKI has truly made a difference. Their contribution has brought joy to many, ensuring that those who often struggle can enjoy this festive season like everyone else," Mahanyu stated.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) branch in Kivule Mashabiki and a strong supporter of JKI praised the collaboration between the organization and the local government. He emphasized that assisting the less fortunate is an act deeply rooted in religious teachings.

"Helping those in need is not just an act of charity; it is a religious obligation. Every faith teaches us to show compassion and love for one another, and today's gesture is a reflection of that," he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Jamila Ally, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to JKI and the local government office for their kindness.

"This support means so much to us. It shows that we are not forgotten, and we appreciate the generosity of JKI and our local leaders," she said.

Throughout this fasting period, various leaders, including the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, have been engaged in acts of charity, extending support to different groups as part of promoting goodwill in this sacred month.

Notably, both Muslims and Christians have observed fasting during this time, reinforcing a shared spirit of devotion and compassion.
