The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Mpango, has met and held discussions with Ambassador  Suzan Kaganda, who is set to represent Tanzania in Zimbabwe, and Ambassador  Dr. Habib Kambanga, who is appointed to represent Tanzania in Rwanda.

The meeting took place today, March 28, 2025, at the State House in Dar es Salaam.

During the discussions, the Vice President congratulated both Ambassadors on their appointments and the trust placed in them by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania,  Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to represent the nation in those countries.

He further encouraged them to "protect and defend the nation's interests," emphasizing the importance of their roles in advancing Tanzania's international presence.

The Vice President highlighted the need for the Ambassadors to be well-versed in "foundational data on Tanzania's social and economic development" to ensure effective representation, especially in economic diplomacy.

He urged them to make deliberate efforts to understand the countries they will serve in, stressing that "learning from their economic development models" will allow them to bring back valuable insights to Tanzania.

"Prioritize seeking new areas of cooperation," the Vice President advised, adding that this would "uncover more economic opportunities" to help implement the country's Economic Diplomacy Policy.

He also emphasized the need for the Ambassadors to "adopt strategies and skills" that would enable Tanzania to make significant strides in its development.

Furthermore, the Vice President advised the Ambassadors to "share Tanzania's progress" with the countries they will be representing, particularly improvements in ports and transportation infrastructure.

He also highlighted the importance of continuing to "promote the Kiswahili language" in those countries and "seek opportunities for Kiswahili teaching jobs" where applicable.

The Vice President also urged the Ambassadors to "work towards boosting trade" between Tanzania and the countries they are assigned to represent through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

"Find markets for Tanzanian products," he said, and "connect Tanzanian producers with these markets" to strengthen Tanzania's position in international trade.

Additionally, he encouraged the Ambassadors to strengthen "cooperation and implement the agreements" of the Joint Commission of Cooperation between Tanzania and the countries they are representing.

The Vice President urged the Ambassadors to "understand the nation's priorities" by reviewing the National Vision document, the CCM Party's manifesto, and National Development Plans.

He also emphasized the importance of "obtaining information from their predecessors" to ensure continuity in their work.

The Vice President reminded the Ambassadors to "connect with Tanzanians" living in the countries they will represent, encouraging them to "foster a shared vision" and motivate these citizens to contribute to the development of Tanzania.
