Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening individual and community economies through targeted investments in key sectors.
The bank continues to play a significant role in supporting national development by engaging in initiatives that foster economic growth, social welfare, and financial inclusion.
TCB’s Director General, Adam Mihayo, speaking at an Iftar event in Dar es Salaam, emphasized the bank’s dedication to collaborating with the government to build a resilient economy.
“Our role extends far beyond banking; we are deeply committed to supporting the government's efforts in fostering economic growth and resilience,” Mihayo stated.
Mihayo highlighted the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in addressing societal challenges and ensuring that the economic benefits of growth reach all levels of the community.
“TCB has continued to support crucial sectors, easing the burden on the government while giving back to society,” he said.
One key area of support has been education, with the bank donating school desks to improve learning environments.

In addition, TCB has been actively involved in healthcare support, visiting hospitals and providing aid to patients, while also assisting vulnerable groups in need.
“We have always focused on community development, and it’s part of our mission to uplift marginalized communities while ensuring that all Tanzanians have access to quality financial services,” Mihayo added.
He further emphasized the importance of embracing modern banking solutions, saying, “In today’s world, digital banking is essential. We encourage all our customers to use our digital services to ensure faster and more convenient transactions.”
The event also attracted various community leaders, including religious figures, and provided an opportunity for discussion on how financial institutions can contribute to the well-being of society.
Deputy Chief Mufti of Tanzania, Sheikh Hassan Chizenga, who represented the Chief Mufti, commended TCB for organizing the event, which brought together people from diverse backgrounds.
“This event reflects the true spirit of compassion and unity, bringing people together in the spirit of solidarity,” Sheikh Chizenga said.
“It is not just about breaking fast together, but about fostering social responsibility and showing care for one another.”
In his speech, Sheikh Chizenga urged TCB to continue its community outreach efforts, emphasizing the importance of social engagement for financial institutions.
“We encourage TCB to maintain and even strengthen its efforts to engage with the community. These initiatives not only contribute to economic growth but also promote harmony and cohesion within society,” he added.
His remarks underscored the significance of private sector involvement in national development, particularly in fostering a sense of shared responsibility.
The Iftar event was attended by a wide range of individuals, including children from orphan care centers, members of the albinism community, TCB staff, and customers.
It served as a platform to discuss ways in which financial institutions can contribute to broader social development efforts.
“The presence of so many diverse groups at this event highlights TCB’s role in making a positive impact on all segments of society,” noted one attendee.
By consistently investing in education, healthcare, and financial inclusion, TCB is reinforcing its position as a bank that goes beyond profit-making to genuinely serve the interests of the people.
The bank’s continued engagement with the community aligns with the Tanzanian government’s broader vision of fostering sustainable economic growth and improving the livelihoods of citizens. As TCB expands its outreach, its focus remains on empowering individuals and businesses to thrive, ensuring that economic progress is inclusive and sustainable.
