Dar es Salaam– Laughter and
excitement filled the air at Chakuwama Orphanage today, 28 March 2025, as Akiba
Commercial Bank extended a heartwarming gesture of support by delivering
essential supplies to enhance the children's well-being. This act of kindness,
rooted in the bank’s deep commitment to social responsibility, brought not only
aid but also hope to the young lives it touched.
The
handover ceremony, held at the orphanage, was more than just a formal event—it
was a day of connection and shared joy. Bank officials personally engaged with
the children and caregivers, ensuring the support went beyond material
assistance to genuine human interaction. Leading the initiative was Ms. Dora
Saria, Head of Marketing and Communication at Akiba Commercial Bank, who
underscored the institution’s unwavering dedication to community development.
“Corporate
social responsibility isn’t just a box we tick—it’s woven into everything we
do,” Ms. Saria affirmed. “This donation is about more than just providing
necessities; it’s an investment in our future generation, a reaffirmation that
prosperity should be shared.”
The
carefully curated donation package included food supplies, educational
materials, hygiene products, and other everyday essentials tailored to meet the
orphanage’s most pressing needs. But beyond the supplies, the visit itself
became a memorable experience as bank representatives engaged the children in
uplifting activities, making the day one to remember.
For
Mr. Hassan Tabu, the orphanage’s administrator, the donation couldn’t have come
at a better time. “We’re expanding our facilities to accommodate more
vulnerable children, and this support is invaluable,” he shared. “When
corporate partners like Akiba Commercial Bank step in, it strengthens our
ability to provide better care and brighter futures for these kids.”
This
initiative is part of Akiba Commercial Bank’s broader community outreach
efforts, which have seen the institution champion various social causes across
Tanzania. Bank officials hinted at ongoing collaborations with the Chakuwama
Orphanage, indicating a long-term commitment to making a tangible difference.
Founded
in 2002, Chakuwama Orphanage is home to 78 children between the ages of 3 and
17, providing them with shelter, education, and emotional support. With the
backing of organizations like Akiba Commercial Bank, the orphanage continues to
be a beacon of hope for vulnerable children in Dar es Salaam.
Wrapping
up the event, the children waved goodbye with bright smiles—proof that a little
kindness goes a long way. For Akiba Commercial Bank, this was more than just a
donation; it was a commitment to continuously give, care, and invest in the
next generation.
