Wasira calls for return of illegally acquired village land

By Alfred Zacharia

The Vice Chairman of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) for Mainland Tanzania, Stephen Wassira, has urged the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Human Settlements Development to take swift action to ensure that land unlawfully acquired from villages is returned to the rightful owners.

Speaking today in Dodoma while addressing CCM leaders and members at the party's headquarters, Wassira expressed concern over individuals who have exploited corrupt practices to illegally claim large portions of land.

“The right of Tanzanians to own land is a core policy of CCM. It is unacceptable that some individuals have used bribery to acquire vast areas of land, leaving it undeveloped.

We demand that all such land be returned to the people,” he said firmly.

He further emphasized the importance of unity within the party, particularly as the country prepares for the upcoming general elections.

“We want Tanzanians to trust CCM as the right platform to address their challenges. This is why we continue to promote unity.

As we head toward the elections, our strength and success depend on standing together,” he added.
