RC Chalamila chairs regional business council meeting in Dar es Salaam

The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam,Albert Chalamila, presided over the Dar es Salaam Regional Business Council meeting on January 22, 2025, at the Four Points Hotel in Ilala.

In his opening remarks, RC Chalamila commended the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her unwavering efforts to enhance the business environment nationwide, particularly in Dar es Salaam. 

"The President has assembled a team of seasoned experts to review tax policies and address concerns about burdensome taxation, demonstrating her genuine commitment to fostering a fair business landscape," he stated.

The Commissioner provided an opportunity for business stakeholders to present their challenges, suggestions, and feedback. He also sought updates on previously raised issues to ensure progress had been made.

RC Chalamila assured businesspeople that the regional government would continue to integrate their input into development plans. 

He urged them to maximize existing opportunities, such as operating businesses around the clock and leveraging the blue economy for growth.

Regional Administrative Secretary Dr. Toba Nguvila highlighted the strategic significance of the meeting, emphasizing its role in advancing both regional and national economic growth. 

He committed to implementing all directives issued during the meeting and ensuring compliance with the legal mandate to conduct similar forums at regional and district levels.

Mr. Denis Chacha, Chairperson of the Regional Business Council, encouraged business stakeholders to collaborate with the government in addressing their challenges. 

He announced plans for a dedicated meeting to create additional opportunities for stakeholders to voice their concerns.

The meeting brought together businesspeople, investors, experts from the Ministry of Trade, members of the Regional Secretariat, district commissioners, municipal directors, and district administrative secretaries. 

It served as a platform to strengthen partnerships between the government and the business community for sustainable economic development.
