Kenya's Elite Junior Academy (KEA) secured a dominant 6-0 victory over Sudan's City Light Academy in the CAF U-17 Girls' Championship, held today, January 8, 2025, at Azam Complex in Chamazi.

KEA opened the scoring in the 7th minute, with Sarah Awino finding the back of the net. Fleviah Khatenje doubled the lead in the 37th minute, further asserting KEA's dominance on the field.

In the 41st minute, Jane Sakwa added a third goal, and just before halftime, Joan Ogola scored twice—first in the 45th minute and again in the 81st minute—giving KEA a commanding 4-0 lead at the break.

The second half saw KEA continue their relentless attack, with Lorine Ishelia scoring the fifth goal in the 50th minute. With no further goals conceded, KEA secured a 6-0 victory by the final whistle.

Speaking after the match, KEA coach Mildred Omari praised her players for their performance, although she noted that they appeared nervous in the first half due to the unfamiliarity of competing in a major tournament.

“We are grateful to God for the teamwork the players showed. They performed well, and we are happy with the three points,” Omari said.

City Light Academy coach Solomon Lam congratulated KEA for their well-executed performance and acknowledged that his team made several mistakes, which ultimately led to their defeat.

Lam expressed optimism that his players would learn from the match and perform better in upcoming games.
