Bashungwa calls for better accountability and performance

The Minister of Home Affairs, Innocent Bashungwa, has urged employees of the Ministry to prioritize accountability, discipline, and collaboration with leaders to uphold the nation's peace, stability, and security.

Speaking today, January 7, 2025, in Dodoma during the opening of the Ministry’s General Workers’ Council meeting, Bashungwa highlighted the importance of teamwork and active participation in planning and executing the Ministry’s goals.

“I call on all of you to actively contribute to the discussions, provide ideas, and share insights that will assist the Ministry's leadership in effectively managing and delivering on its core mandates,” said Bashungwa.

He emphasized aligning efforts with President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s 4Rs philosophy: Reconciliation, Reforms, Resilience, and Rebuilding, to ensure the Ministry achieves its objectives.

Bashungwa also extended his gratitude to the President for her continued support in enabling the Ministry to fulfill its responsibilities effectively.

Deputy Minister Daniel Sillo commended the dedication of staff members, applauding their patriotism and efficiency in delivering public services.

Permanent Secretary Ally Gugu, who chairs the Council, encouraged employees to use the platform as an opportunity to propose practical contributions that can strengthen the Ministry’s operations.

“This General Workers’ Council meeting provides a crucial avenue for employees to be involved in shaping the Ministry’s plans through constructive dialogue,” Gugu remarked.

The meeting underscored the Ministry’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and ensuring shared responsibility in achieving its mission.
